Six EMbaffle heat exchangers to Concentrated Solar Power Plants in Spain
EMbaffle was contracted to design and supply six major EMbaffle heat exchangers, each with an empty weight of 165 tonnes. The first three EMbaffle heat exchangers were delivered on site in early April 2010 and by mid July were fully operational. The remaining three heat exchangers have been delivered and are currently being hooked up and commissioned.
The EMbaffle solution chosen by the end-user greatly lowers the installed capital cost of the TESS, by reducing support structures, foundations, loadings, piping, valves and associated insulation and heat tracing systems.
The smaller volumes of the heat exchangers offer operational cost savings as less heat transfer fluid and molten salt is used.
EMbaffle B.V. has achieved major successes in these TESS applications where the number of oil/molten salt heat exchangers required has been halved from six to three on a typical 50MWe power plant.
